Another long delay - I have been sooo busy with my course that I havent had time to go near my sewing machine, or this website.
The first term has just ended and now I have a 5000 term paper to write; I am looking at the Beyonce 'Single Ladies' video which, despite its huge (unfathomably so, in my opinion) popularity and despite its claim to be an empowering feminist claim, I believe that it is more a case of Beyonce (and so many women in the music industry) simply falling into the same old patterns of heterosexual idealogy; subjecting yourself to a form of porn chic is not empowerment but quite the reverse.
I did find time to submit my 3 blow job images to an exhibition in Shoreditch; it seems that they were removed due to a complaint! Unbelievable! I daresay if I had stitched naked women in a similar sexual pose, then no-one would have batted an eyelid as we are so used to seeing sexualised images of men. What tosh! And how disappointing for so called hip Shoreditch.

Oh dear, I have no idea when I was last here, but I fear it was a long time ago for which - if anyone has missed me - I apologise.
I have begun my wonderful MA in Gender & Media at Sussex University. It is quite brilliant, the course, the campus, the people, the coffee, the environment and, especially, the books that I am (attempting to) read. I am delighted to report that the reading of these academic books is getting easier; I dont have to look up every other word anymore. Just every 5th word perhaps.
Currently I am wading through an article called "Thinking Sex: Notes for a Radical Theory of the Politics of Sexuality" and "Bisexual Women, Non-Monogamy and Differentialist Anti Promiscuity Discourses" and of course not forgetting "Who's Afraid of Feminism", "The Will to Knowledge" and "Feminism & Sexuality" (stunning!)
So, needless to say my poor little sewing machine is currently getting a tad dusty as I havent had time to sew anything. I did have a successful exhibition at the Brighton Art Fair - though I probably only covered my costs, I did have a huge amount of appreciation for my work, with the exception of the woman who took offence to this, in fact she was so offended by it she had to take a photo, which amused me no end.
It was wonderful to see people come along and simply smile or laugh at my work (in the nicest possible way of course!) so I dont mind that I didnt have a sell out. I dont know that many people did.
I did get some interest from a local shop and I will be featured in their window next week for 2 weeks plus an invite to share a Brighton Xmas Open House with the lovely Lisa Gellender.
So I am still somewhat hovering in between academic and creative mode, mostly in academic mode but as soon as things calm down a little and I get into some sort of normal routine, my sewing will be inspired by all that I am absorbing via books and you will see the results here.. at least they will be posted here anyhow; whether I have any kind of audience is another matter!

The Brighton Art Fair is looming and I am getting organised. I have even been interviewed as 'artist of the month' - hurrah!
I am also about to start my MA at Sussex University and have just learnt that my induction day is on October 2nd - the first day of the Art Fair! What crummy timing. Still, I have managed to get some help to look after my stand at the art fair, while I go and find out what goes on at Sussex. Hopefully I will be back to the Corn Exchange to share the end of the day with some friends until the show closes at 7.30.
Photos will, of course, follow

Press Release
NOW AND NOT NOW
a collection of work by Lou Trigg
Lou Trigg is a mixed media artist whose work is primarily sewn, embroidered and installation based. She has also written a book of intimate poetry.
Her primary focus is on the invisibility of women in their 50's. Cosmetic surgery has become the norm and is seen in a similar light to changing hair colour or buying a new dress. Looking good equates to looking young. Women over 50 are not allowed to look their age - as if ageing itself is a disease and, unless their faces have been stretched to appear expressionless, women 'of a certain age' simply become invisible.
Her MA exhibition at Brighton University in 2008 depicted over 30 stitched scenes from her childhood together with a 4 minute animation of the work: The Invisible Woman
An earlier animation produced in 2005, Memories in Spaces featuring some of her collection of Barbie dolls, showed more childhood scenes of mundane yet tragic memories. Film International described the 4-minute stop-frame animation, consisting of 7 defining moments in the life of a child as oddly moving and resonating with the viewer and can be favourably compared to Todd Haynes's Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story.
More recently at the Brighton Open House exhibition, she exhibited some embroidered "stitchures" from her series entitled "Tragic Women" together with a dressing table installation depicting a vast array of original cosmetics from the 1950's and 60's showing the efforts made by an older woman to "keep young and beautiful"
In 2008 Lou self published a book of poetry entitled old tales of love and desire which is currently available at www.blurb.com.
Lou has been invited to exhibit at the Brighton Art Fair in October 2009 and her entire works will then be available as a complete collection for exhibiting further afield.
Please see attached photos of further work.
